Rachels Dogs

Zero, the German Shepherd Mix

Zero is truly Rachel's 'heart dog'. Showing up as a stray in June 2005, Rachel soon found herself attached to this beautiful and intelligent creature. She became Rachel's muse, regularly being photographed and used as her subject when testing new lenses or photographic techniques. In other words, Zero is a willing and patient model, who helped Rachel hone her craft.

She can often be seen with Rachel whilst scouting new locations for photo shoots, or quietly by her side as she goes out on her own to photograph non-canine related subjects. In 2010 Zero was diagnosed with an auto immune disorder, prompting Rachel to begin learning about natural, holistic dog nutrition and care. She no longer feeds commercial dog foods or treats, and swears by the raw diet her dogs are now fed.

Oliver, the Yorkshire Terrier / Wirehaired Dachshund Mix

Adopted from the Licking County Animal Shelter in July 2010, Oliver was sought out to be a companion for Zero. Over time, Zero and Oliver have grown to be the best of friends. An obvious abuse case, he has overcome a fear of walking on-lead, and being handled.

His favorite contraband is a dirty sock, or plastic bottle lids. He enjoys wrestling with Zero, giving 'high fives' and being chased as he runs as fast as he can. Rachel usually prefers larger dog breeds; but as most small breeds do, Oliver makes up for his size with his big personality.
